The Art Of Shaving

When they met in Miami, Myriam was just 19 and Eric was 26. Myriam, with a background in the spa industry, had a love for skin care and cosmetics. Eric, with a background in business, had a true entrepreneurial spirit. Seeking new opportunities they moved to New York City in 1995, where Myriam began studying Eastern medicine and Aromatherapy, and Eric joined a small company distributing European grooming products for men.

Like most men, Eric had sensitive skin. One day, in the kitchen of their Manhattan apartment, Myriam decided to formulate a special oil for him to be used before shaving—a combination of botanical ingredients and pure essential oils. The next morning, Eric applied this protective pre-shave oil before shaving. From the first stroke of the razor, he could feel the blade glide smoothly across his face. A new shaving concept was born.

Eager to share their new pre-shave oil treatment—but having no money to invest-they decided to sell their car for $12,000 and use the proceeds to open a store, and during the fall of 1996, the first The Art of Shaving shop opened its doors on a side street in Manhattan. Six months later, an extraordinary thing happened: The New York Times devoted a full-page story to the little shop. The response was amazing—new customers packed the shop and then returned again and again.

Wanting to build on this momentum, they opened a second shop on Madison Avenue and developed a complete line of natural shaving products. Soon the two had become experts, and in 2002, Random House published their hard cover book, The Art of Shaving. They continued to perfect the science as well as the art of shaving, until they achieved their goal. “The 4 Elements of the Perfect Shave”—a new shaving system—was launched. Just two years after opening their first store, Myriam and Eric found themselves at the forefront of what would become a revolution in men’s grooming.

The Art of Shaving has become the best-selling men’s brand at high-end department stores. Their own stores can be found in 39 locations across the country. The Art of Shaving was acquired by Procter & Gamble in June 2009.

The Art of Shaving was started in a kitchen. Today the company is a worldwide organization still nurtured by the founders' talent and passion. Myriam and Eric have succeeded in creating a brand with a mission, one that promises to be a household name for generations to come.

I first saw the Art of Shaving at Sephora a while ago. I've struggled with shaving issues my whole life! Not only does my hair grow extremely fast, but I'm constantly cutting myself and gettting ingrown hairs. I've tried several shaving creams and ingrown hair serums, however nothing as worked too well.

The Art of Shaving not only specializes in mens' products, but women's shaving products as well. They carry unscented and scented shaving creams, ingrown hair serums, and shaving kits. You know how you can never find a gift for a guy? Well that has changed now! I think this would make a great birthday or christmas gift for that special someone.

The Power Shave Set ($150)

The Art of Shaving Starter Kit ($25)

The Travel Kit w/Razor ($150)

The Art of Shaving Women's Value Set ($80) Sale Price: $65 offers a full size Rose Shaving Cream, After-Shave Body Milk, and Pre-Shave Oil at a special value price.

I have to say, if you have issues like the ones I wrote about above, this will be the perfect kit. The Rose Shaving Cream leaves your legs soft and smooth, with the soft fragrance of rose. The Pre Shave Oil softens your hair and skin to prevent ingrown hair, nicks and cuts. I've never used a preshave oil, but now I will never stop. This really makes a difference in the shaving process.

My favorite Art of Shaving product is the Ingrown Hair Night Cream ($30)
It accelerates the relief of ingrown hairs and razor bumps. Pure, unrefined African shea butter softens the skin, allowing ingrown hairs to break free, as jojoba oil moisturizes and unclogs pores. White willow bark and meadowsweet extract, containing salicilin, gently exfoliate to release the trapped hair. Formulated with pure Rose Absolute antiseptic and soothing, with therapeutic essential oils to reduce inflammation. Botanical extracts rich in fruit acids improve skin's texture. I suffer from horrible ingrown hairs, and this has really cleared up the problem. My boyfriend also suffers from ingrown hairs, and he has unfortunatly been stealing this from me! He has fallen in love with it as well. If you suffer from ingrown hairs, I strongly suggest trying the Ingrown Hair Night Cream! ♥

You can find any of the above products and more, plus sale items at The Art Of Shaving.com You can also find their products at your local Sephora.
