Givenchy Magic Khol Eye Liner Pencil Review + Swatches

Part of Givenchy's Spring 2011 line is the Magic Khol Eyeliner ($21.50) Described as a "magic wand" that can be used on the upper or lower lash line to create a look that is guarenteed to stay all day.

A little background on my eyeliner experience. I've been wearing liquid eyeliner my whole entire life since the age of about 15 because I've always hated pencil liners. My past tries with pencil liners have not been good at all. I hate sharpening them, they never last the entire day and I find they smudge and crease very easily. When Givenchy sent me their "Magic Khol" I was a bit hesistant, but ok, especially when they say "Magic" then I suppose it's worth a try.

At first application it appears to be your typical pencil liner, although the formula was a bit creamier then your usual eyeliner. It reminded me a bit of my Urban Decay pencils. (The only pencils I use, and even those I like to blend into my shadow) The color is a dark coffee brown, but of course it also comes in black, white, bronze or indigo blue. It's not a pigmented shade, which I found refreshing because nowadays it seems every liner and shadow are packed full of glitter. It was nice to go back to basics with this one. By all means, I hadn't seen magic yet though.

So you're probably thinking this is just a normal eyeliner by now eh? Not so fast. I don't know if I would call it "magic" but it's pretty damn close for me. I cannot ever get away with wearing liner on my lower lash line, it has never looked right on me, but for some reason, this liner does the trick. It doesn't smudge, will not crease and can be blended into your eyeshadow to create a more dramatic or smoky look.

Needless to say, I LOVE this, in fact I like it much more then my Urban Decay 24/7 pencils. Yes those are fun too to play around with, but this is your classic, basic pencil eyeliner. I always thought the more expensive pencils are just as good as the drugstore brands, but in this case, soo not true.

If you've been looking for a pencil eyeliner that won't crease or smudge, I highly recommend the Givenchy Khol Eye Liner Pencil. Yes sharpening is a bit of a pain, but it's worth it for this one. I've actually given up my liquid eyeliner and switched completely to pencils because I think it gives you a more natural look. I'm sure I will bust out the liquid maybe when I go out at night and want a heavier look, but until then I'm sticking to this pencil. I plan on purchasing it in black next because that's my go to color for liners.

You can purchase the Givenchy Magic Khol Pencil for $22 at Sephora or a Givenchy near you.
