Dior Smoking Blue 001 Blue Tie Palette Review

One thing I have to give Dior props for is their beautiful packaging. They always impress me with their beautiful compacts and perfume bottles When I first saw the Smoking Blue Tie Palette I knew I had to have it, even though I'm not a fan of blue eyeshadow. The compact is surprisingly heavy, (which just makes it all the more fancy) and extremely glamorous. I'm going to go out on a limb and say it's the prettiest compact in my collection.

The inside contains 4 blue eyeshadows on one side, and a sheer pink lip gloss on the other. The shadows and the gloss both come with their own Dior brushes. Nice right? I love the look and feel of the palette, and I instantly fell in love.

The 2 bottom blues are more shimmery and much more likable for me then the top 2. The top midnight blue and an ocean blue were a bit chalky on my swatch, but I really liked the two bottom colors. There is no glitter fall out, but I will not lie, it's hard to pull off a good blue eyeshadow look. I'm still trying to perfect the best way I can wear these colors. I love that the brushes say Dior on them as well.

The last color (bottom right) was the most pigmented, and came out as my favorite, because it's not so blue, it's a bit of more a grey. It's full of sparkle, but won't pull on your eye as much as the others shades. I enjoyed wearing that shade alone, when I didn't have the time to mix and match the four colors.

The lip gloss proved to be my favorite, it's extremely sheer and will appear different on each person. It's a bit on the thin side, but leaves your lips feeling softer and looking bright with a tad bit of shine. I'm sorry I didn't do a pic of my lips, but it's that sheer that I'm not sure if it would have made a difference. I think you get the jist from the above pic what kind of lip gloss this is. It's perfect for daytime wear, and night if you want to wear it over your favorite lip shade.

Overall I love the palette, especially the gorgeous compact case. I will still be practicing with the shadows, to perfect the best nighttime look. It proves to be a fun beautiful piece that all makeup junkies can appreciate.

The Dior Blue Tie Smoking Blue Palette retails for $70.00 and is Limited Edition for Fall 2011. You can purchase this palette at Dior counters nationwide as well as at Dior.com
