Oh how I love trying new perfumes. It's usually a love or hate relationship so I was excited to check out a brand I'm not too familiar with, Lavanila. Not only do they sell healthy natural fragrances, they are famous for their healthy deodorant which comes in many different fruity vanilla flavors. And I heard so many great things about the brand and I have never tried it for myself so I was super excited. And what better way to be introduced to such a brand then with the Vanilla Grapefruit Perfume. So what is it?
I'm not sure if I smell Grapefruit OR Vanilla. I smell more of a combination of two yummy scents that smell a bit musky and a bit energizing. But it's not a manly musky, it's a sweet feminine musk. It's just a "Happy" scent if that makes sense. Something about it just makes you want to smile. It's exotic meets musky. One of those signature smells that is hard to explain in words. You just have to waltz into Sephora and spray a bit on your wrist. But it IS a perfume that smells different in the bottle then when it hits the skin. SO much better after it's been worn for about 10 minutes. (Now THAT'S my favorite kind of perfume) The kind that lingers and lingers.
The Key Notes are listed as Pink Grapefruit, Bergamot, Orange, Cedarwood and Madagascar Vanilla.
Somebody at Sephora that had this perfume explained it quite well to me. "If I could bottle up Summer and put it in a bottle, THIS is what it would smell like" I think that's the best effective explanation of what Vanilla Grapefruit is all about. Another huge plus is how long lasting the perfume is. The smell only gets better as the day goes on, and it lasted me at least 6 hours while I was out for a day of shopping. I can't stand a perfume that lasts about 10 minutes and then is completely gone. What a waste.
So what are the negatives? Something about perfume that always gets me suckered in is the packaging, and although the packaging on this bottle is just "a bottle" it really proves that Lavanila didn't need to lure people in with the bottle, the perfume is enough. When the product is THAT good, you don't need a fancy pretty package. Although it does help. And it's a bit pricey at $58 for a 1.7 bottle but I can tell you it will last you quite a long time, since 1-2 sprays in the morning is enough to last throughout the entire day.
LaVanila Vanilla Grapefruit is available at Sephora and also the LaVanila website. Some of the other fun fragrances are Fresh Vanilla Lemon, Pure Vanilla, Vanilla Coconut, and Vanilla Raspberry. If you're unsure which one you want to commit to. you can always purchase the rollerball for $19. And be aware the fragrances also come in deodorant.
Overall I enjoy this perfume as a perfect Summer scent. I can't wait to wear this to pool parties, the beach, the park, and any other all day event outside in the hot Arizona Summer Sun!
